Jacquie Walters' Guitars

Jacquie's "Merlin Rian" guitar was made by the late Christchurch luthier Roger Hartshorn. Roger hailed from the UK but was well-known and loved in Christchurch folk circles.
"I spotted this lovely instrument second hand in CJ's Music Store in Christchurch, borrowed a strap from the shop and played it. The hearts in the sound hole caught my eye and it seemed just the right instrument to buy, partly with a small gift of money from my honorary grandmother and childhood next-door neighbour Mrs Grace Harrall (the inspiration for the song "Northern Songbird"). This special guitar travelled to the UK with me and I have written many, many songs on it. It's fantastic for sessions because the shape of the body is perfect for hugging to your body so someone can fit into the table you're sitting at with their pint in hand."
Jacquie’s Martin guitar
Jacquie plays a D19M Martin guitar with a Fishman pick up. “I bought the guitar at Begg’s Music Shop in Nelson in 2000 and it hasn’t missed a beat. Fabulous Christchurch guitarist Jon Maxim Hooker sold me the Fishman pick up and I play the Martin at all of my gigs.
